About UsAbout us -
I am Karen, Oatcakes has been established and open for business, since Jan 2017. In this time I have boarded a wide range of dogs, all shapes and sizes, private clients and rescue clients. Some have been challenging, to say the least but all of them have taught me a lot and have all become part of the fabric and ethos of Oatcakes. I am an experienced dog owner, fosterer, home checker and able to carryout dog assessments. I am certified in K9 first aid, kennel & cattery Management and have a diploma in dog behaviour and psychology, current studies include , dog nutrition, K9 communication, Level 3 Diploma in Canine Care, Behaviour and Welfare. Anyone with a passion for dogs will know it is something we would all aspire to own your own kennels or dog establishment, I have been lucky enough to be able to establish Oatcakes Pet Lodge with the help, love and support of my family and in particular my dad, Peter, who has been very hands on. Unfortunately, due to my mother's ill health my dad has had to take a back seat (2019). * PLEASE NOTE* I am not a behaviourist or certified trainer but do have a wealth of knowledge and understand that all dogs are more than a breed or specific DNA. This knowledge and hands on experience is what leads me to want to help, you the dog owner, to understand your dog, regardless of breed. If anyone is interested in learning more about me please do feel free to contact me. *ADOPT DON'T SHOP* the rescue world is in crisis with so many dogs waiting to be adopted, whilst litters are still being produced the inevitable cycle continues. So please consider a rescue dog as your new family member. Thank you for taking your time to read this and I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends really soon, Karen |
